What is a Doula? The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek term "a women who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continual physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during, and just after birth.
Studies have shown that when Doulas are present labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed easier.
I am a DONA trained Doula. My philosophy is that each mother will make the best decisions for herself and her child while I am present to serve you objectively and compassionately. I love supporting women in having the birth experience THEY desire.
I am soooo glad we hired Paula to be our birth doula! She helped us to make our labor exactly the way we wanted it to be - natural, drug-free and manageable. Paula was there for me for weeks before the labor started, then during labor, and afterwards as well
I am here to help you have the birth experience that you desire. The day you give birth to your baby will be one of the most memorable of your life. I want you to look back on that day knowing that you were nurtured, respected, and empowered. I have no agenda or preconceived ideas of what should happen. Your birth can be whatever you make it.
